It's not new that VSF makes one of the best Super clones out there. The crown jewel of VSF is the 124060 No date Submariner for many reasons.
Some argue that because there's no date wheel no one can the slightly different font of the numbers on the date wheel, and also avoid a misaligned date, AR coating sheen on the cyclops etc.
But there are drawbacks with tge VSF 124060 No date Submariner, firstly you don't have a date function, and secondly is that you actually do have a date function.
I'll explain, the VSF 124060 No date Submariner is powered by the highest grade of super clone movement for a Rollie.
The Dandong factory made VS3235 is the only "real" super clone Rollie movement out there. Why is it the only real super clone movement out there you ask?
Well because it's the only super clone movement that's identical to a degree that it's possible to swap VS3235 with genuine 3235 movement. However the VS3235 has a date function by default so what does it means if you use it in a no-date model?
At the time of writing, the Dandong factory has not announced that it will produce a VS3230 a no date version of the VS3235.
This means that the best movement VS3235 is not the ultimate when it comes to the VSF 124060 No date Submariner because it has a ghost/phantom date position.
A Phantom Date is when a watch doesn’t have a cut-out on the dial for a date window, even though the movement is still equipped with a calendar complication. Some collectors call it a Ghost Date.
This happens when watch brands design a “no-date” timepiece but they do not use a no date watch movement, or they do not make modifications to the movement to remove the calendar components.
Is this the ultimate Submariner super clone that money can buy? I personally think so. Is there room for improvement? Sure there is!
